NOH

This mixed-media artwork closes my chapter in Japan and draws inspiration from a multilayered society, letting me self-absorb an overload of information.
Much like the traditional Noh plays, where masks hide the actor's face, stylized movement creates a world of layered realities. This piece expresses the fragmentation of cultural memoir I experienced of the globalized landscape. I turned to Noh theatre, a form of performance that emphasizes tradition rather than innovation.
This work is a fragmented collage weaving a narrative on three panels from personal experiences and observations. The juxtaposition of images and meanings emerges as you get closer to the painting's surface. It is a questioning of structure, a playful exploration of space for meaning.
Rejecting the comfort of predeterminate narratives and a testament to the transformative power of travel, I always feel deceived because I can't believe anything. After all, the environment changes nonstop.
I do not want to make sense, or this will be someone else's definition. This trip was mine, and I decided what to take and what was available to me and questioned again.
